Senior
pupils in St. Colman's are offered the following
programmes:
Transition
Year Programme (T.Y.P.)
The
T.Y.P. is available to pupils who have completed the Junior Certificate.
The programme is optional and places are allocated after application and
interview.
Subjects
(all year round): Irish, English, Mathematics, French or German,
Religion, Career Guidance, Technology, World Affairs, Physical
Education, Water Safety, Transition Year Journal, Computers & E.C.D.L. (European Computer Driving Licence).
Modules
(half year): Mini-Company, Media Studies, Inkwell (School Magazine) School Newsletter, Work
Experience and Vocational Preparation, Art,
Social Work, Driving Awareness, Cookery, First Aid, Public Speaking, Film Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,
Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, President's Awards, Goal
Project, Horticulture, Coaching and Chinese Studies. Modules are
constantly under review.

Leaving
Certificate Programme
All
Leaving Certificate pupils are required to take the following subjects
for Leaving Certificate Examination:
Irish, English, Mathematics.
The subject choice may vary from year-to-year depending on student
preferences. Each pupil has the choice of four subjects from
the following:

Technical drawing or Biology

Geography or Physics or Economics
-
Accounting or Construction Studies or
Applied Maths
-
Business or Chemistry or Art
-
French or German
-
Agricultural Science.
Religion
is taught to all Senior Cycle students.
Leaving
Certificate Vocational Programme
This
programme is taken by all 5th and 6th year pupils. It is a very
beneficial programme, which helps them to improve their presentation and
computer skills. It allows them to gain extra credits for entry to
Institutes of Technology and is a valuable addition to a student's C.V. The programme has
three elements:
